Advertizing on a Van

Post by Roderick Treece »

With the economy the way it is I am thinking of lettering the side of my hugh van. The van also has alot of big windows so here is my question. Because I am in the Glass Sign business I was thinking about changing out a few of the tinted glass panels with clear tempered panels that I could then decorate with art and lettering.
I have never seen it done but it seems doable . I get glass at really good prices so the cost of changing the window out wouldn't be to bad.The only down side I can think of is if I break the original ones they are very expensive to replace.
I know Dave Smith did something similar to his little truck.

Hi Roderick,
More than likely, the company that makes the glass for the van offers it in both tinted and clear glass. Maybe you could just buy a stock version of the clear glass and save yourself all the other hassles?

Dusty Yaxley did this some years ago and was able to find stock glass in clear. His van at the time had glass with a slight curve so stock was the way to go. I don't think he ever broke one either. Gary Volkmann aslo replaced the tinted rear glass in his topper, which has appeared in many photos over the years since 1982.
