Hello all,
I've been reading many threads on the board, and as much as I can online. I live in Chicago and really want to properly learn traditional signpainting. I've been doing lettering on my own for a few years now, but want to learn proper techniques and materials. I was wondering if you could provide some resources and folks who could help me out here in the city.

Hello,
Well, you are in luck on a variety of ways. First, you can ask more specific questions here and get specific answers. Second, you live in one of the hand lettering meccas of the US, with plenty of talented people in the area. Keep an eye out for Ken Millar, Tom Kelly, Bob Boheunick,Tom Cavanah, and Keith Kneicht. Third, there are quite a few Letterheads style events scheduled in your area of the country beginning almost right away and all through the summer. If you want to learn this craft quickly, you really need to watch other people and ask questions one-on-one.
