just in a day
Was finishing off some glass pieces today that were part of a larger project I've been into for the past couple of months. There was an earlier post with all the materials lined up not long ago....but to get back to the point. I was adhering the photos to the glass and did my usual 1/3 1/3 1/3 mix and had to head out to see a client and do some emergency banking. When I got back to the shop a wave of nostalgia hit me with a wiff of varnishes when I re-opened the door. That was the "smell" of Glawson and Evans. I recall clearly walking into his door not only a few days after he died but at times when I would show up while his shop was in "full flight" and busy. That was the smell I'll always associate with his place. Just a bit of a ramble here but the thought seemed worth passing on. Not only did I discover that I need to re-order a bunch of materials but had a "nostalgic wave" wash over me that I'm guessing/sure others have experienced. I was after all with Dave Smith and Studdley when I walked in his door for the last time only to find Bill "Huge" and Dusty there already.

What is your mixture made of to adhere pictures? I Have been using Letter Head Sign Supplies UV jewel and MOP glue seems to work great but I have only used it on 3 panels so far.

Have never tried any of newer process's/materials you mention. Mine is equal parts of Resingel, damar varnish and bulletin spar. I was actually wondering where and if these varnishes are available. Have a few cans left over and will soon need to restock.

I painted some floor space the other day with left over enamels/varnishes (a nice brown mixture) and had that nostalgia feeling the next morning. The shop smelled more like home than it has in years, especially since I had also been using the wood stove. The combined smell was like Dad's shop.
