"Der praktische Schildermaler" What to do........
Hey guys,
After signing up for my 2yr subscription for the Letterheads Magazine, I got the Vol. 9 Num. 1 International Issue which covered the book:
Der praktische Schildermaler (The Practical SignPainter) from 1910 by H. J. Jedlitschka.
I fell in love with the color plates and layouts etc. I searched the book online and I found one listed as part of an auction in Germany, so I wrote the people trying to find out more about it. The book wasn't auctioned and they contacted the seller to see if he'd still like to sell it and for how much. A month later, my sale is finally underway.
Now everybody wants my book.
What should I do?
Jeff Lang wants a copy of it and our great host Mike Jackson wants to buy it, but I am just getting into collecting old sign books and want to share this book with everyone because of its rarity and beauty. I have about a week before the book is in my hands, so I would appreciate any ideas anyone has.
Thank you.

Thanks everybody,
Yes, I have decided to make copies available, right now looking at putting it on CD in PDF format. Other ideas are welcome. Will let everyone know when and how much soon. Jeff Lang offered a spot for me to sell it in the Letterheads in the Etcetra section. Look for it soon......
I am glad I can share this with everyone and make up some of the overwhelming cost.
Thank you again.
If interested, e-mail me and I will compile a list for letting everyone know A. price, then B. who and where to send them.

to Doug from Doug....great idea to show arround and get your costs recovered....I also have a fine CD of English Pubs (that is about to increase in size) as I'm about to continue crawling through London pubs for another week starting this Monday. Got the cool new nikon D70s,a pile of memory and helpful advice from Danny B and Michael Jackson to help me through it's learning curve/use. I sent a copy of my first pub crawl CD to Letterheads magasine which was also a great way for people to see all the terrific English work! This has been a bit of a ramble but late on Friday before a week away tends to do this to me!! ;=)....SOOOO all to say spread the goods arround!

Doug,
In a recent search of this book on Google, I stumbled upon some Flicker images by a man from San Francisco who has acquired that same book. Great images & would love to see one of those up close & personal some day.

Seems he has a sign shop there that does plenty of hand lettering. Nice work, too.

Anyone who knows if its all the pages of the book theres in that link?
Re: "Der praktische Schildermaler" What to do........
Lars,
On the cover, it reads, "32 tafeln originel-entwürfe".
I don't know what that translates to in english, but there are 32 color plates in the collection located in the flicker collection.
