I've looked at your website a few times and this thread could quickly become a mutual-admiration club!
I've had a website for a number of years but it was basically a static, non-updated portfolio so I just had my site completely overhauled. I'm getting acquainted with the internal workings of the beast - adding & changing content, etc. I'm a complete neophyte in this realm so it's been quite a learning curve, but it's hosted by Squarespace and their technical support team is superb.
The post you referred to was the first time I've added a link to my website on the forum so I'm thrilled you checked it out and liked it. Business has been slow for me - haven't really done anything to write home about in recent history. So I thought I'd spend some time trying to enhance my online presence as one element of this marketing mystery.

There's one thing that can make it better though.

For starters, All the text that is in 14 point quicksand is illegible in Google Chrome on my machine. Here's a screenshot.



The 17 point quicksand bold that you used for "logo" on the logo design page renders fine, but the "f" in leaf in the above example doesn't.

Thanks so much for your constructive critique. That's an issue I've been somewhat aware of. It looks fine on my screen but the screenshot you sent is pretty terrible. Like I said, I just launched the site and need to tweak it. Probably should have worked out the bugs before going live.

With so many devices and browsers out there, web design can really be time consuming. The "PT Sans" That you used on the bottom for the link renders well, did you try using that for the body text? The Trebuchet that you changed it to reads well also.

Dan...the work speaks for it's self! As mentioned before, you have a way with "deco" and add just keep it up!! As to how it looks in various browsers I have no idea.....My site also needs a good looking after. Much has changed there recently but updates are not quite finished.

Yes, beautiful work.

A really fine selection of photos. I especially like the fact that every photo has a reason to be included. Each one is worthy of some study as they reveal a lot of thought has gone into their design and in the detailing.

I love the way you've done the lettering in the stork club, especially those pearl centres on a such a long, fine letter shape.

One web navigation critique...once you get into the individual projects, there is no quick way back to the gallery thumbnails page or the home page. It's not a big deal, but it takes several clicks back-tracking through the gallery of images.

Hey, it's ALL ABOUT ME as this post has been near the top for several days!

Kevin, thanks again for your input. That has been really helpful. I did try the PT Sans. I like the font better than Trebuchet but the weight seems to be a little light. I'm not a big fan of using a lot of light-colored text against a dark background, so I've tried to keep that to a minimum and seems like the Trebuchet is a bit bolder and works better. I also changed my blog pages to a lighter color background with dark text since by nature the blog is going to have much more text and less images. I've checked the site on Explorer, Chrome, Foxfire and Safari. They all render things a bit differently so, yes, it's frustrating but you just have to go with what seems to work best across them all.

Doug - so good to hear from you. Appreciate your comment about my treatment of art deco. Haven't included much of that on the site but I love deco and every time I visit my sons in New York City, they lose me for a good portion of the visit as I wander and stare and take photos of the architecture.

Bruce, I've been a huge fan of your work for years. Hope we can meet someday. Your navigation critique is duly noted. Ease of use is of crucial importance for a website. People just aren't going to hang around if it's clumsy. I'll see if I can figure it out and try to make that easier at some point. And regarding the selection of photos: Including less photos with some explanation seemed to me a way of presenting the work with some context.
