Hello from London
Thank you to Dave Smith for pointing me in the direction of this wonderful forum.
I'd like to share some work in progress going on in Notting Hill, here in the U.K.
Sign Writer is Nick Garrett. I've just started to learn the trade. I'm currently studying Graphic Design at University for the Creative Arts in Epsom.
Design was sketched by Ami James, one of the co-owners of the shop.
The new studio is the latest venture for the Miami Ink and NY ink tattoo artists.

Re: Hello from London
Welcome to the forum, Jack.
And a special welcome to the trade.
Nice design. A lot of tattoo artists seem to have a good sense of lettering, as is evident in her design. Any idea if it was a font he adapted or if it was rendered by hand?
I hope you'll be able to share pictures of the window when it's completed.

Re: Hello from London
It was sketched by the tattoo artist.
He also sketched the fascia design which is also in gold leaf. I'll upload photos of that and the finished windows too.
There were subtle tweaks that Nick made when drawing up the designs in situe, using his own experience and flair to bring the sketch to life. Extra little flourishes and some stroke thicknesses were subtly changed by him.
Thank you for the welcome. It's great to find something I am genuinely very excited and passionate about.

It's a very small and connected world we are in. When did you study at UCA? I'm still there now. Right this second in fact!
Nick Garrett is the man behind the execution so I can't take any credit there.

In that glorious Library?
Strangely enough studied graphic design too - Ohh it must have been about 5 years ago now?! bloody heell...!
Couldn't bring myself to going to uni there as well, i've grieved over living near Epsom long enough.. i couldn't put myself through going to uni there too!
