Back Up Black from Gilder´s question

Hi, got a package in the mail yesterday and as I have never used Back Up Black from Gilder´s before, I´m just curious.. is it supposed to be this thick? Like thick tare? I can hold it like this (up side down) and after a minute I can see it slowly on it´s way out of the can. Is it supposed to be painted as it is out of the can or is it supposed to be thinned (as brand new)?



I´m not quite sure what I had expected, but I thought maybe it would be like the thickness of 1-shot enamel or ordenary paintriping paint.

Hi Marius...that is what to expect. Just thin to the consistency you like. This is Guilders supply and the purcells right?

You can use it straight for Screen Printing, or add thinners for brushing, In either case add up to 5% 1-shot hardener. The excess gold can be removed after 30 minutes or even less depending on the air temperature. At the Conclave last weekend it was being removed 15 minutes after...........Great product...........

On the side of my cans of back up. To thin with Turpentine or Mineral Spirits to brush.

Thanks! I can use 1-shot thinner too, right?

Maius I'm not sure... personally I've always used turps to thin lettering enamels so that's what I used with the back-up. You could email Ron and ask him about the use of 1shot reducer.
