Glass-don't do it

Post by john knight »

Here's a tip some of you may know about, others may not;
Don't back up large areas of glass with black.
I was asked to gold leaf a window for a funeral parlour back in the 60's,
and back up the whole window with black 15ftx8ft, which I did and the
job looked pretty smart, then came the summer and it was hot-had a
phone call-my windows cracked, when I got there you couldn't touch the glass it was so hot.
The black background had drawn the sun like a magnet
Moral of the story -Don't do it.
Hello to all you signwriters across the big pond
I've been painting and making signs since 1952
and I think I'm getting the hang of it now.
