Robare M. NovouI'm posting a few photos of a glass piece I had seen at Rick's shop over the years. They're really rough because I had to photograph them off my TV screen from a video I shot a few years back.
It hung on the wall behind the front door. It was signed, but I don't remember who it was that did it. The whole thing was hand lettered, intricate ornamentation around the edges, mother of pearl (as I recall), blended split shades, etc. In about 1/8" high letters at the bottom it says "1881". The framed piece measured, I would say, 16" x 16".
I thought it was remarkable and I'm curious about who the sign artist was and if anyone knows what became of it. (Of course I realize that is a big question for a large percentage of what was once Rick's museum.)
I'll post the full shot on this page and some close ups on a couple of reply pages.
RMNDan, I have a photograph of that piece. Rick told me it was an apprentice masterpiece. Something a student would do to prove to his teacher that he had mastered the techniques of reverse glass gliding. The Name to the left of the date says..."D. Norgrove Detroit, M."
Not sure about that first Initial.

Dan SeeseDan,
I don't know where the piece ended up, but there's a picture of it in AMAL vo. 8 no1, center spread upper left corner.
It's the issue with Rick's picture on the cover.
