i am really fascinated with this whole process..i've read kents book, read posts here that go back months, read all the little instruction notes from various arts....BUT i was wondering if there was a step by step video...or a glue chipping for dummies out there? i have bought all the stuff to get me ready...my little sandblasting booth should arrive this week...i even bought asphaltum but now i read that there's a better way using mask. i know it takes patience and i'm gonna probably mess up a bunch of test pieces but i'm trying to limit those things by reading as much as possible b4 hand.
sooo...any instruction video you masters know of?? thanks!!

Karen,

No videos here. The book you refer to is a revision of the original LeBlanc book Gold Leaf Techniques, it may touch on chipping, but this link will provide a wealth of information: www.theletterheads.com/lhparts/gluechip.html.

While the chipping process is the same for all, work with the top two first for two different means of containing the glue. One covers asphaltum, the other a vinyl mask. Both have they're uses. The asphaltum method is still used frequently, and by testing both you'll understand the differences and uses for each.

It does work, it really DOES work! I've been messing about with this for a couple of months & gone through lots of glue & glass, but I'm finally starting to feel fairly comfortable with the process. The "plincking" of glass is now music to my ears! Just jump right in- slick stuff!

Have a look at this link, there is a lot of help on it.
Also remember,it is VERY cheap to try, and as the saying goes" It ain't Rocket science"

...did anyone mention glue chipping and glass ornamentation could be habit forming?

...I should've started saving up for professional help (mental) long ago. Maybe I could start a fund.

...my next project is going to be a 42" x 60" cigar sign, just for the fun of it of course!

I'm hopelessly addicted, oh well...there's worse things to be addicted too! ...have fun!
