For those who do not subscribe to Sign Craft you should pick up a copy and read Mike Jackson's piece on Rick. A very nicely done article that many folks will want to read especially those who knew Rick. Mike congratulations on a superb job!

Ron, thanks for the note. There is a little more to the story on this piece. When Tom at SignCraft asked me about writing it, I intitially turned him down, suggesting that Mark Oatis or Noel Weber would be better at it. I then figured Mark might be the one writing for Sign Business and wasn't sure if Noel would do it. So, I said yes, still with a lump in my throat and pain in my heart.

Besides trying to distill all the information into a tidy one page document, it was just plain difficult to weave the words when you are choked up with emotions. I did the normal long winded one, then closed it and rewrote the second one pretty much as you see it in the magazine. That was all done before flying to LA for the funeral. I only needed to get a few names and dates ironed out. All in all, it was one of the hardest articles I ever wrote. Luckily, I only had to write it and didn't have to stand in front of 200 loving friends and deliver it. Raymond did a great job of that.

Sincerely,
Mike Jackson

Smartly done Mike.

Mike did a great job in his letter/article in summing up Rick. To get an idea of just how difficult that it, just take a pen and try to tell all about Rick and keep it to one page. First, it is not easy to put into words the genius of who he was and what he meant to the rest of us. Somehow, the words just never sound right. I know, I've tried and haven't got them right yet.

This afternoon I got an e-mail from Lola. She is still having a tough time dealing with Rick's not being there anymore. Please remember her.

Thanks for the heads up Ron.
Will we see you at the Brush Bash this weekend?
