DecalomaniaI just won this eagle decal on eBay for about $5. It falls in line with the recent page added under Rick Glawson's section, compiled by Lee Littlewood, after a Conclave.
This one is about 5" square. The detailed instructions on the back suggest it is a truck decal.

Mike JacksonVery nice decal but whhere does the word decalomania come from? Is it because you guys have so many? What i would really like to know is how do you get the art work to change ( animate) I would love to do that for my web site.
thanks Roderick

Lee LittlewoodRoderick,
Look at the name at the very top of this decal. You can see it spelled "decalomanias", so it appears to be a variation of a trade name or specific name for the process.

Mike Jackson - Decal InstructionsWhat are the 'detailed instructions'? Does it say to apply with tacky varnish? I see three images - front, back and x-ray??? What is the age of this one?
cheers, looks nice. lee

Hi Lee,
Here are the instructions on the back of the decal. This section is only about 2" x 2" on the reverse side. I can't see a specific date on it, but it does have the number 4-56 on it. I think the 4 stands for a 4" decal. There a bunch of other identifying numbers, so maybe 56 is the year. You can probably decipher the text on this scan. It says to coat the decal with varnish or laquer once the gum has been removed and it is dry.
Hope this helps!
