Fine Gold's Back-up seperated....

Post by Doug Fielder »

I am working on my first $$$ window gilding job and have had problems with my Fine Gold's Back up black. It seems that it comes out of the tube in 2 parts (like GI peanut butter), how do I get it to mix back together so I can use it normally?
Other than that, the gild is going pretty well (I have to do it after work, I have a day job), I laid on the first gild and tonight will lay the second and back-up and clean off. It is Boston Style with the outline and matte centers, and the only gilded window in all of Montpelier (our capitol).

Any hints or tips will be greatly appreciated before I head out to finish her up this evening.

Thanks for all you help.

Tighten the cap and shake the tube. It may take a few times, but it should mix fine.
