Sue & Frank came by yesterday about 3, he seemed to be his usual self & was glad to be on his way home, a shame to drive all this way to lie in hospital for 3 days.........
The weekend was a great success, even the weather held out, it really is a great feeling with such a wealth of knowledge & skill all in one place. This would have been the 22nd consecutive Conclave had the Boss still been here, & although we forgot the toast, he is still the reason we all get together............we are just keeping the Family together.
It was great to see Lola on saturday, she really gets emotional seeing all the old faces, it's worth getting together just for that. Some great craftsmanship & techniques were seen over the weekend, some people almost finishing their projects, I shall of course steal all the best ideas for my own version........Larry gave me one of his spectacular projects as a gift, most unexpected, & will be treasured, it really is a pleasure to be involved with such a group.
A thank you to David & Susie Butler for yet another great design in the Conclave tradition, for the T-shirts & the project. Thanks to everyone who helped out in their own way over th 3 days. Also Larry & the Dead Men got rid of a lot of fish in the local Sushi Bar.
Thanks for the hospitality, Mr Dickinson.
And thanks for the update on Frank, I tried calling this morning, no answer.
It was another great time, nice projects and good friends.
Hope we can all keep our health for the next one.
It really was a great weekend. The quality of the people, as well as the work they produce is top notch. Thanks John for hosting it, and for letting me be a part of it.
I've got my photos online for anyone interested in taking a look:
In that Tom Moore Cigar Sign and in a few other signs Ive seen I have noticed the portraits in there. I am still trying to learn the gold leafing process and I was curious on how you get this picture in there like that.
It is always thrilling to join the finest craftsmen the world has to offer,..... and to create another special piece in the names of Rick and of our craft. Thank You John for offering your place to make sure we all keep it alive.
I just wanted to say Thank You to John for having a Memorial Conclave and keeping everyone together. I had a blast and learned a lot as always. I finished my piece sunday afternoon, so now I can spend all of my time watching Dead Man.

Nothin' wrong with this thread finding it's way back to the top. Well I finally finished up my piece and made a nice frame. Thanks for the art Dave. Too bad you weren't there to assist the rest of us on how to render so many different sub-panels, lettering, and ornaments. You were probably home laughing. It was tricky, but we all figured it out. Thanks for having us John, memories that won't soon be forgotten. Those meets are always a pleasant and welcomed break from the day to day grind. See ya soon! AHO!
WB, That came out really nice, but only to be expected from a Deadman like yourself.......
Really like that "marble panel" at the top, how'd you get it that way, now I have something to base mine on, might just start it soon! D
WB and D... great job on DB's design and nice to see this make it's way back to the top. Just today we were picking thru AMAL issues and picked up the issue in tribute to RG...okay the boss! I always get sentimental and sloppy when I look back.....
