What's the Secret to Scrolls in Gold...

Post by Doug Fielder »

I was reading in AutoArt Magazine the article about Ken Soderbeck, the famed Gilder of Fire Apparatus ( http://www-personal.umich.edu/~oats/restore/ )
He had mentioned that once he was told the secret about making scrolls, it was so easy from then on. Anyone read the article and know what he was talking about? I can duplicate scrolls, as he did too when he was first starting out, but when it comes to making them from scratch, I am lost.
Rawson & Evans was also famous for their scrolls and Old dollar bills also had nice scroll work.

...Gary Anderson (I think) wrote an article about desiging scrolls that was in some sign magazine years ago. I don't remember which 'zine or when though. Perhaps Gary can fill you (and us) in when he gets back from Greece.

Hi Doug,

Why not just send Ken an email to ask him, or better yet call him? I've traded notes with Ken before and I don't think he would mind.

His email address is on his web iste.

Hey thanks Ron,

I had sent him an e-mail a few months ago, and never heard back. Anyway, it may have been a too complex question about decalomania. Anyway, I will give him a shout.
