Signs in movies

Post by Tony Segale »

If you like to see some good signs in a movie...

There is an obscure western all in black in white from 1995
called "Deadman", written and directed by Jim Jarmusch, starring Johnnie Depp, John hurt, Billy Bob Thornton, Robert Mitchum's last preformance any many more, original soundtrack by Neil Young...

The signs in the movie are pretty darn nice, all hand done. Sometimes you don't need words to identify a building either, as seen in the movie.
The movie was also the inspiration for Larry White hosting the First Ever Deadman Letterhead in Hayward, CA recenty. And a recreation of many of these signs were scattered throughout his shop, created by Larry, Dan Baronian and Kelley Cassidy (I hope I didn't leave anyone out).

anyway, what a time that meet was...if you couldn't make it, at least check out the movie.....nice signs.

Seegar......I'm begining to get the idea this could be a cult film for "signtists" I dunno,... but I dunno anyone north of the 49th who's even seen it! Mitchum was my hero as Pugg Henry!

though it may be quite cold up thar in those north regions, you sure seem to catch on quite fast thar, sparky.
Robert Mitchum had a face resembling my grandfathers, always an idol.

If you can't seem to find it, Deadman that is, check out renting through NetFlix....they have it for sure....you will not be dissappointed. You may want to watch it twice, however, just to see which character resembles which of yer favorite letterhead. I'll let you in on your character later.

"I clean up real good you know"

cheers
