Mica powder vs. MOP powder?

Post by Felix Marcano »

Hi again everyone. I hope I'm not boring you with a million beginner questions. I was reading the CR Loo catalog & found MOP powder. Could this be used the same way as mica powder (as we did at John Studden's last week)?

Thanks,
Felix

Felix,
First I would check their terminology, could be the same product with two names. Mica powder should be just as we used at John's, fine micron sized pearlescent powder. I believe that genuine shell MOP is only pearlescent in small chip form as it is collected in tact from the shell. If it was to be ground as fine as mica powder, it would lose its beauty and depth, probably turning to a gray dust. They may call it MOP "powder", but it may be more like small chips. If you find out any facts, let us know.
I enjoy your interest.

Felix,
This would also be a great time to remind everyone of the search feature on this Forum. I typed in Mica in the search engine and found 31 posts.
