Sign scammers

Post by Roderick Treece »

I received a requist today for a very large order of banners 60 3x8s.At first I thought it might be one of my many joker friends. The e-mails seemed to be "DEADMAN " related and the person said they were from very near ERIE.As the e-mails continude things got weirder so I called a friend that has a sign shop.He said somebody did the same thing to him and that the credit cards they gave him were stolen.
As soon as I e-mail the person back telling them to go ahead and order, that I would have to do a check on the CC it was over.

Beware!

I received a request for 60 pieces of 48" diameter glass table tops ordered from Sydney Australia to be crated and shipped to South Africa from my shop in California. We e-mailed back and forth a few times and I asked a lot of questions and even suggested that he use a source more near his local. He insisted that I supply the glass because I had been highly recommended by one of his clients. He seemed very sincere and professional but I still felt uncomfortable. I decided to put the burden of faith in his hands claiming that since he was a new account and outside of the USA, that I would have to have full payment free and clear in advance before beginning the job. That put the kiss of death on the job. Just as well, in my book!

Scams are a dime a dozen....

I've received some of the same scams off of my website. It typically starts off seeming legit, but then blossoms into a scam, and usually not to hard too spot. There's lots of them out there. Pat's method seems to flush 'em down fairly quickly. Always be suspicious of those African customers. ...They're a long way from home, brother!

I received a document. It was all in order, seals, signatures, and everything. One thing though, in very small print, there was a short clause, which said that the receipient would loose all money, if by the time the check clears the bank, the products ain't been shipped yet.
