1st meeting of the International Society of Glass Gilders!

Coming up in a few weeks is the first meeting of the ISGG. May 2nd here at Classic Design Studio in Boise Idaho, Noel Weber and John Studden will be hosting a small letterhead /Workshop for new gilders and seasoned veterans alike. For the new folks please take a look at the PDF flyer attached for registration info. Experienced gilders and past attendees of workshops will only pay a small fee equivalent to what is normally asked for at letterhead events to help offset material and overhead costs. All attendees will be issued there official ISGG number that will forever link them with the only group exclusively dedicated to the art of reverse glass signage. Five more openings are available for new students at this time and there is plenty of room for those veterans. Whatever category you fall in the only way to obtain your number and become a member of ISGG is to participate in an official ISGG event and this is the first one. If you can’t make it and we do know this is pretty short notice don’t worry this will be at the minimum an event that is held twice each year, one in the spring and one in the fall. If you can swing it for the first weekend in May your reward will be a very low number showing that you were one of the earliest members of the International Society of Glass Gilders.

Below are two examples of the glass work we will be completing over the weekend.

and I'll keep it movin' til I'm up in Boise!

I always wanted to face off with some of these
veteran gilders they make such a fuss about!

We best get some sleep!

Luckily Larry tuned up my gilding a while back because I am going and I am just amped and revving up more by the day. I've got a room reserved at the historic Idaho Heritage Inn, and it's real deluxe. Would anyone want to share it with me, gourmet breakfast included? Couple blocks away from Noel's, nice old place. Thursday - Saturday. Please let me know.

The response to the ISGG Workshop has been very positive, with a lot of previous attendees expressing interest . Anyone who has previously attended one of our workshops since they restarted in 2005 is welcome to attend & will receive a 50% discount.
Everyone attending will be doing the same scope of work & number of projects. A number of very skilled Letterheads with a great knowledge of the Techniques will be on hand & are always willing to share .
This new movement will be having Workshops at least twice a year, & we will give at least 2 months notice next time so that everyone wishing to attend will have more time to plan their trips...........Looking forward to seeing everyone. Noel B. Weber & John Studden

Sounds like a rather tough group to me, but still interesting. At first thought, I'm afraid I could get roughed up some, but somewhere down the line I may get up enough courage to actually attend the thing. I don't carry a gun, but I may have to get one to be able to associate with "The Society".

Gentlemen,

I'm sure you are all busy cleaning your glass, screen-printing, gilding, painting and catching up with each other right now. Unfortunately, I was unable to make it to the inaugural meeting of the International Society of Glass Gilders.

However, in honor of this august event and the venerable personages and scoundrels in attendance, I plan this weekend to work on finishing up one of the many projects I STARTED at previous glass-gilding events.

Now that was yet another excellent meet! Thank you very much!

It was just like the good old days, me, bringing my own project.
And you, you looking at the back of my head.

You guys sure put a lot into that one....well, like you do to all of them, truth be told.
ANYONE wanting to learn this craft, look no further and take their workshop!
Their instruction is phenominal!

I can't wait to attend the next ISGG meet,... for Wild Boar Shank of course!
I look forward to this new society gaining even more momentum!

We pulled up to Classic Design Studio on Thursday evening... didn't look like a place that was worth a -.

Noel & John were ready to get things moving...and keep 'em moving...

Seems our reputation preceeds us, so they gave Sally and I our own soundproof room to work in.

They would round up the workshop participants and go over the next step of the project...in which there was 4.

Noel and John...bofe of 'em, worked on their own project along with the others.

Robert Collard, hard at it... seems there isn't an event you don't see Joe Hardy.

Mark came all the way out here, all the way out here from Michigan to become an official ISGG member!

That's enough for now...it's gettin' late. I'm sure some others will post some pictures soon!

Can you figure out how this photo was taken? Hint: the foreground imagery was part of a
series that was in Sign Business several years ago.

Blake and Jenko lit up in gold reflection

Noel demonstrating blending with water-soaked sponges and Liquine. It was charming to witness how much he enjoys the process. Very refreshing.
