Ebay treasure

Post by erik winkler »

Hello,

Could anybody tell me if this is a good price for a sign like this?
It looks great and original.
It is like a sign i saw on the showcards or earlier photo from a sign posted in one of the letterhead magazines...

Erik,
I wait until the auction is over to see what it go's for.One sign sold the other day for over 30,000.00.I am not sure even the selling price mean much sometimes. When you see what go's for what you help help but say to yourself "What are they thinking paying that much".

Awhile ago just for fun I listed a Love Mirror on ebay just to see how much it would fetch.Well some Limey started off the bidding with .99cents
and in the end it went for less then 3.00 buck.Well now the winner never even picked it up,can you imagine that.

That's a nice sign, Seems to be in very good condition. It's a nice size too. Looks to have the acid embossed and gilded buildings. Real nice piece. I would imagine it will fetch the higher end of their estimate.

Now hold on Charlie!

I paid you for that Love mirror, straight up.

You said you'd bring to me...

so come on if you're comin'! ...and bring your sign kit, SWM.

Don't let him kid you...it sold for $2.32.

But i wander..... how can you seevon ebay if it is for real, a 1890 piece?
I know auctioneers often do not know what they are talking about.

I would imagine that it's authentic. For one, the company's reputation would be on the line if they were selling a replica to any serious collector who would be able to easily spot it as that. And two, there's not that many people around that would know how to execute this work. You would be able to tell if it was authentic if you could see it first hand, but from the picture, it's a bit tough. It's also not out of the question that this piece has been restored, maybe even by Rick Glawson.
