Mirror Back up paint

Post by Roderick Treece »

I would seem that one of the main suppliers of back up paint to the industry Spray Lat has discontinued air dry mirror back up paint unless you order 500 gallons! They do carry black heat dry back up paint( 225o). At this point in time I don't feel it would pay off to heat dry my mirror backing although it would make it really hard.I would also have to have a convection oven.
Peacock does make an air dry that work well. I am not sure what Sara is carrying at the moment.

Roderick,

Our Black Mirror Backing Paint is made in Chicago by a company that has been making it since 1945 (I think) It is black, matte, mineral spirits based (not xylene like the Spraylat paint) and air dries in about an hour. Mostly they make gray mirror backing paint but we like black better for antique mirrors so we asked them to make us the minimum quantity - 25 gallons. We have it in 1/2 pints, quarts and gallons. Thanks for asking.
