I want to purchase a 20# bag of cobalt blue smalt, the color that Rick had in the sample set. Who would sell that. and am I looking to spend somewhere around $360-400 ? thanks for any information.....

Here's one place. I'll look through my bookmarks and see what I can find. I know I had another place that was cheaper but this is a good product, I've used it before.

C R Loo is in SF, and where Rick purchased some of his supplies. Neither place may know of smalts, but will know of frit, which in the sign trade is smalts: crushed glass:

On Rick's higher end smalts, or more intense colors as cobalt blue, he used Kruger, made in Germany, and more costly.

.thanks Robert..........ordered 14# of the Lapis Blue......beaufiful deep color. JoanAnn, at hotglass, suggested #2 smalt size. To adhere, I've been using Rick's SmithCream/color combo. What do you use for exterior work ?

Vance,

do not use smiths cream, it will fail within a year or two, depending on your area and exposure.

Mark Oatis had an article in SOT years ago about this very issue, as did David McDonald in SB.
