Liquid gilding

Post by erik winkler »

Is it possible to remove gold layed on with the liquid gilding method, in the same way as with removing gold layed on with watersize?
If so, is this also possible when it is backed up with a silver layer?

I have to ask this question, because I did not liquid gild myself yet.....
Thanks,
Erik

Erik-
When "angel gilding", the deposited layer of gold must be followed by a layer of silver deposition. The unwanted areas of silver are removed with silver strip, the silver strip removes the gold at the same time. So, no, you can't remove solution deposited gold the same way you remove water gilded leaf.
