Fused Glass Mike Jackson

Post by DAVE SMITH »

I made this for my friends daughter yesterday. She is 12 on Saturday and mad on Jacko.
This is a present for her bedroom wall. It's 3 pieces of 2ml glass with powdered frits and glass enamel powder. The base layer is yellow and white frits and then the next layer is black frits and a clear layer on top. I don't have much experience at this type of work, but there are so many things that could be done with these techniques. I was hoping for the colours to stay as they look in the first few images but after 20 hours in the kiln at a temp of 810 dgrs it changed in colour slightly.
Never had the time to do a test colour chart of these frits but still came out looking ok, strange thing is it actually came out the same colour tone of skin that he bleached his face with.

Crazy Englishman! You'll try anything with glass won't you?!

I'll bet you made one 12 year old a very happy girl!

You could probably make these fairly easy as it is just black and white art Larry. Send me a better image of the eye when you get a minute.
Wayne yes that is one of those books ,not as nice as the one you have though, I have always wanted an original of that book, keep an eye out for me there mate.

The kiln Rod is 6ft by 4ft you can get them even bigger than this 14ft by 10ft and bigger, old Sally Jenko could cook up a nice cow in one of these.

I would be interested in seeing more photos of your kiln Dave. If anybody else has one if they could show a photo and tell me why they use that type that would be helpful.

Crazy old Blighty....it quite amazing Davey. The fascination the English have with Michael Jackson I never quite understood but there's no denying the talent you've shown.
