pounding gold..............

Post by vance galliher » Mon Sep 06, 2010 1:20 am

................. I have a 1" square block cube that I gilded. So I have a square block of gold ( hahaaaaa I wish !) I read this would make 3,300 leaf of gold ......so if buying by the book, that's $5,280 for that 1" cube. I also read someplace in my stuff, but I can't find it .....if you pounded this cube out to leaf size thickness it would measure 12' x ? (300 yards ?).....how many yards ?

It's pretty amazing how far it will spread.

The gold I'm getting custom-made is 17grams per 1000 leaves. European standard is 15-16 grams per 1000. Some of the cheaper stuff is only 12-13 grams.

It seems to me, the value of the gold is a bit over half the cost of a book if bought at wholesale. If buying one book at retail prices, it's maybe a third.

I was dreaming about my gold solution (Aqua Regia) I am about to make.
If I will brush on the solution on an object and put an anode or kathode stick in a stone I can turn things in to gold if i rub the stone over the surface like a Philosopher's stone.
The would burn me or drown me instantly to see if am a devil or something.... but on the other side... we all know how people are.... they will let me mary the kings daughter instead.

Realizing we are in the 2nd renaissance of the arts.
Learn, copy and trying to improve...
Still in the learning phase ;-)
