Omega file problem.

I made some artwork recently and put around 10 hours into it,I usually save a copy and back it up to various external drives but for some stupid reason just kept working on it .I kept saving it to a file in my jobs folder on the computer itself, I had openned it on numerous occasions over the last 2 days then last night I was working on some other design and I think I must have brought that file into the lost file and deleted it or something not sure at this point. Now I am Trying to think back to what happened and looking all over my computer for this file, just can't bring my self to doing all the work again especially when you know where each individual part of the design works and fits . So my question is there a way of openning and finding the file from 24 hours ago by setting the computer back? I know you can do it on a weekly basis but not sure for 24 hours.

Hey Dave, Have you tried to right click on your recycle bin to open it, Or maybe check in recent documents. I hope that may be of some help.

Dave,
Did you save the file to your hard drive?
Sometimes, omega will do an automatic backup.
Go to the start menu and do a search
in the name box, type:

*.plt

then modify dates & enter the date you were working on the file start search.

search under the C: drive

The search option will locate any plot file saved to your computer under any directory on that day.

Thanks Jeff for that advice, I tried it as you know and no luck with it. Seems like I have to start over. oh well learned the hard way I guess...

I had the same problem a few times, but besides smacking my forehead on my desktop a few times I do not know if the file could be retrieved. I was hoping that Mike could have some trick or something.

What you are referring to Dave is 'System Restore'. Yes you
can set your computer back. You have to first see if there
is a restore point for possibly 24 hours ago. Your computer
will put in restore points at various times. I have had to restore
my computer to a previous date more than a few times. With
my Dell on XP I just go to 'Help and Support' at the start button
bottom left and go to System Restore and go throught the
calendar looking graphic to see if there was a restore point for
a particular date.
..as for the future. What has kept me from having to use
the system restore feature if at all anymore is Carbonite, an
online backup. Tag your work files for back-up and will be
sent away automatically, your can even retrieve a previous version of
something you did. How many times have we written over a
file you didn't mean to and then just go to previous versions
and pull it back. Carbonite is the one I am familiar with but
there are other online back-ups that should work equally well.

Davey.....I feel for you. Went through this last year and I hate to bring bad news but system restore won't help with files, photos etc. It just resets the box to before you got the virus or whatever....downloaded a program or lost some drivers etc. that bollocked up the works.

Another thought, what version of Omega are you using? Omega 4 has an improved auto save feature and Omega 3 has one that does a basic screen save. You might have to look in default places, I found one just sitting on C drive after all the other entries and programs. Also the program automatically sets up a file under jobs named backup.

Thanks everyone for your help, I done all these checks but found nothing ,back to the drawing board and to try to remember what I put into the last design.
Put this one down to human era this time.. could of easily pushed one button to back up an hour before........
