Oil for Gold

Post by Robare M. Novou »

As a commodity, I know the price of Oil is tied to World Events. And at the drop of a hat Oil prices can shoot up rather quickly. And go back down rather slowly. And that this nation depends a great deal on Foreign Oil.

So why is it that Gold also does the same? Do we depend on Foreign Gold? Don't we have enough Domestic Gold to meet our needs?

Obviously we don't. And yes Gold is a world wide commodity...so it does fluctuate, much to the chagrin of us gilders.

So yesterday Hosni Mubarak, supreme leader of Egypt...gets on his pulpit, and declares he's not leaving....and instantly Gold goes up by almost $20. Today his royal highass resigns....and instantly Gold goes down by about $15. Oil fell too.

So as sign and decorative gilders maybe we should collectively declare to the world market that we will no longer be using Gold to gild with, and that Gold should get out of our industry. I'm sure that with what little voice we have, we can manipulate the price of Gold to around a penny or two lower than the current spot rate.

I see that electronic manufacturers have recently stated that a switch to Palladium (at $800 per ounce) is in the making.
With gold at almost $1360 per ounce, this makes perfect sense.

Gone but not forgotten, our the days of $360 per ounce gold.

So let us give this some thought, and maybe follow in the path of those electronics firms, and make the switch to Palladium.

Who knows, maybe our little voices will be heard, and that this will be the start of something big...remember what the Original Denver letterheads started? And look at us now.

Several 100 thousand people in a country of 80 million forced their leader out...we can do the same.

Robare,
Judging by the underwhelming response, I think this revolution is going to have a slow start!

With several thousand years of status tied to gold, I think the revolution to lower people's desire for it is going to be a very very slow one.

Actually...gold may not be worth as much as it used to be...

Cheer up Robare, I read somewhere, that if gold kept pace with inflation over the last 30 years, it should be around $2000 per ounce now. See how lucky with are! (That reminds me of those times when someone has a horrible car crash, breaks both legs, punctured lung, etc....and someone says....wow! Isn't he LUCKY!.....He could have died!)
