Variegated Red Leaf

Post by Robert Schwieger »

Hello. Looking for a source for Variegated Red Leaf that does NOT have the repetitive sunburst pattern on all of the leaves. Older leaves had the continuous random pattern. Perhaps this is an "age issue". Thanks. Bob

I lucked into a lot of NOS leaf a while back it had red... blue... black and green. The patterned leafs with stars and swirls just does nothing for me.

You can give this a try... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Variegated-GOLD ... 2422892%26

If that don't do it for you check blick they have a selection of variegated leaf.
Sure I paint thing for my amusement and then offer them for sale. A brushslinger could whither en die from lack of creativity in this plastic town my horse threw a shoe in.

I haven't noticed the random ones becoming less available since the introduction on the patterned ones. I buy from Chinese makers. Pretty easy to find these days using Alibaba, although you usually have to buy quite a lot for a minimum order. They don't do just one or two books.

Incidentally, I often break the leaves into random-shape fragments. It looks better without the straight lay lines.

Sepp Leaf in New York has a couple of brands of varigated, but no pictures on the website. I think the VARIEGATED AMORPHIC LEAF is more mottled, and the Japanese CELESTIAL had some really nice subtle colors, if I remember right.
Easy Leaf in LA seems to show only black and blue varigated (no red? hard to believe), but without the sunburst pattern.
