amazing super repellent spray coating

This stuff is mind-blowing!
If asphaltum can repel hide glue, this stuff might make it rear up and gallop straight off the glass!
Maybe the next best thing next to teflon coating for outdoor signs! Bears investigating!

It is a cool video - I especially like the boots jumping in mud. But there is not an awful lot of hard information on how it works or how long it lasts, and the price is considerable.
Here is another take on it. Still loosey-goosey on how it works, but better:

I was also intrigued by the video and looked into it a bit further reading the MSDS and other literature on the suppliers website.

In fact, the most informative bit of reading was an article by a guy who bought some to try it out in different circumstances. ( http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013/03/ ... dry-in-hd/)

It seems it does work as demonstrated provided it is applied correctly (sprayed evenly), for at least a short period of time. It appears it is subject to fairly quick breakdown by UV light, and also the effect wears off fairly quickly once the surface is compromised (by wear or abrasion). Other drawbacks are the surface texture (slightly rough/gritty), milky white appearance and strong fumes during application.

Another thing to watch out for....the company has clearly been flooded with enquiries as the video has gone viral...and I notice one supplier in Australia with prices that were absolutely astronomical!....attempting to find suckers willing to pay 3 to 4 times the typical price of the authorized suppliers. $380 for less than a liter....you've got to be joking!)
