Nice... they look as if they came from the same hand. Wonder what era they were crafted in.
Sure I paint thing for my amusement and then offer them for sale. A brushslinger could whither en die from lack of creativity in this plastic town my horse threw a shoe in.

All the above photos were taken in The Dark Horse ( a non alcoholic, strangely empty pub)
in Belfast, several were signed by a W. J. Irvine. Its a sister property to the Duke of York pub,
which is overflowing with similiar mirrors - both properties owned by an antiques dealer.

Non-alcoholic pub, in Ireland? That's a thing?

Beautiful mirrors though. So ornate.
Full-bodied and easy to drink.

Try these other photos from Peter. All taken on his phone so the resolution is not that great .

Nice work though.

I think Mr. Irvine must have been a sunny sort - lots of white space, not much use for thick or dark letters. The Corbetts letter is so inventive and cheerful; a very original form.

Does anyone remember Houlihan's Old Place Restaurants?

These Glass signs remind me of that restaurant back in the 80's and 90's.

The place was packed with them, mostly from across the pond.

All sorts of exceptional pieces, wood, metal, glass, gilded, carved, and even framed b&w photographs of exceptional window lettering.

Can't find any interior photos of the place...maybe someone on this forum has a few they could post.

Interesting to note that they all use the spelling "Whisky" without an "e". This is the typical spelling for Scotch "whiskies", but Irish and American are traditionally spelled "Whiskey", or "Whiskeys" in plural.

I have seen an original Dunville's poster with this spelling, but it is quite rare.

I've done several Irish pubs over the years including one with a special Whiskey bar, so I needed to get this spelling right, otherwise the staff never hear the end of it from pedantic whiskey/whisky enthusiasts. hahaha.

We had a Houlihans here in Ottawa. A number of years ago I was doing some glass work for an old client who'd been with the Houlihans and he said something to the effect that the guys who did the glass work were from California and they did a bunch of it on site. He did say there were 2 and that one of them was a bit crazy. I do believe Rick Glawson knew them as he mentioned some then un-known names to me...one may have been Ron Overby but this was along time ago and who knows if I'm any where near correct.

As to the disappearing "E" in whisky, as the author of a couple of pub signs I had it expained that if there was an "E" in the UK country there was an "E" in whiskey... the Scots being the inventor and probably the largest consumer of the fine beverage use it without the "E"

I experienced the same thing with my London trip a few weeks ago.
The Irish owner of the Irish bar in London was still upset...
