Is there anyone in the New England area that teaches glass gilding and/or glue chipping? Or is this just a "West of the Mississippi" sort of thing?

Although we would like to think it is just us out here in the wild west, there are many fine gilders in the northeast. I suggest you contact the Society of Gilders as there is quite a network of teachers. Sorry about my class but I have a few more asking for a spring session. I know you mentioned that you have the book and you are welcome to e-mail questions as you go.

Watch for upcoming local letterhead meets where you may find demonstrations of gilding and glue chipping. A good place to watch is under letterhead meets in AMAL and Sign Business.

If you want to try your hand at it right away, check out this site for glue chipping: http://www.theletterheads.com/glawson/gluechip.html. It would also be good to check out the Sign Business web site. They have a pdf file of an article Mike Jackson did regarding glue chipping.

Glass gilding techniques can be developed by getting a copy of LeBlanc's book Gold Leaf Techniques.

A suppliers list in included in the green pages of the original letterheads site, though you shouldn't have any problems getting supplies in your area.
