Larry WhiteI have been using my powders mixed with frog juice to fill voids left in hand leafing the chipped areas...and I was wondering if anyone out there went ahead and produced the glow line while they were at it using the same mix...or is that a good thing to do...it just seems it would remove a step.
Any thoughts?
RobertI'm typically doing 2 water gilds followed by a leafed surface gild, then backed up with Fine Gold ochre backup. A good backing paint is required so as not to fatigue during the removal of the excess gold.I don't know how well the frog juice will stand up to removing the excess gold (you tell me). That's why solution gilding is so nice, you get it all covered in one process. -LW

I have been taught this method from early on and it seems to work quite well for filling the voids without detection...so I just fill in the entire chipped area...and yes...I will have to try it for the outline...
and I will let you know!
I also created a backlit easel that facilitates the backup for me tremendously!...I would be happy to post a pic if interested.
and I am working on the angel gilding as well but want to become proficient at laying leaf too!
Thanks for your input!
