Glue Chipping Story

OLD FORUM POSTS

Posted by Raymond Chapman on March 19, 2004
The renewed interest in glue chipping reminded me of one of my early ventures from back in the early 80's.

I was doing a nice glue chipped job for a lawyer and everything was going smoothly. After everything had chipped I put the glass in the bathtub to wash off the remaining glue (just like Mike Jackson told me to do). After a few minutes of soaking I began to rub the glass with my hand to make sure that everything was clean. Suddenly the water began to turn red.

For some reason he didn't tell me not to use my hand. I guess he thought I was smart enough not to do that. Well, duh.

As Larry Whan would say...that is one of those "Guess how I learned that?"

Hi Raymond,
You probably already know about it, but there are several FREE image downloads on the Hand Lettering Forum site. Right now they are all grouped under the Rawson & Evans section, linked below. The image above is just one of the five currently available. The glass piece on the right was a work in progress by Jeff Lang. You can see a couple of finished ones in Larry White's recent posts.

Did I mention they are FREE! Just add a few dozen hours of labor, some glass, glue, gold and paint.

Is there a place where I can download them already done? And for FREE?

I'm glad I don't live in Texas.

The heat seems to have an adverse effect on the brain.
Raymond Chapman
Yep, I'm living proof.
