While I was searching around looking for J.E. Moser's web site (their name is on the glue packages above), I ran across this page about using shellac. Interesting information, but slanted more towards furniture making.

In the photo above, my old 5x glue looked more the color of the pile on the right, and the stuff Rick sent me for the Boise meeting was lighter like the material pile on the left. The text at Woodworkers said the lighter color was stronger--opposite of my dark colored glue. Mosier probably just repackages the glue for Woodworkers supply (?)
