I was looking at the calendar in the kitchen this morning and saw the little caption "Winter Begins" for Dec. 21. Tomorrow, I guess we can start looking forward to the longer days.

A couple of weeks ago, we had a snap of very cold temperatures and some frost formed on outside of our kitchen window. It reminded me of a fern chip on some glue chipped glass. I set up the tripod and camera to take pictures and opened the inner window of our double sliding glass window. I shot a few, then went outside to set up a tripod stand and a piece of black background for a more even photo. When I came back in to take more photos, the frost had started melting without the cold air insulation of the double glass panes.
I figured the glass people here would appreciate the chip-like pattern.
