Angel Gilding / Gold Chloride

OLD FORUM POSTS

After buying my first angel gilding kit from rick and using it...I became intruiged by the process and how it is made. I have always thought and many times suggested to others that rick should put all his rediscovered knowledge into book form. So that it will never be lost again. I fear that rick took a lot of knowledge to the grave with him.

In anticipation of this. I wrote a book on the process of making gold chloride (angel gild).

I researched the patents and formuli. I purchased the raw materials. I produced the needed
stock from following several of the patents and instructions of other sources. I was successful in making and applying gold chloride(angel gild).
If there are those of you out there that are considering doing it yourself...then this is the book for you.

If not...then I can think of no better company than peacock labs to produce the angel gilding kits, or version thereof. They produce and sell very fine products indeed.

I advertised the book in a past issue of AMAL. and will do so again in the future.

I am deeply saddened and crushed by what I am hearing and seeing regarding the looting and ransacking of rick and lolas love and life...and ours too. I can see now why rick remained seperated from his brothers.

If anyone has any questions concerning the book or other comments...I look forward to your posts and emails.

I for one would like to see someone else pick up and take over were rick left off in the selling of gilding supplies....Hows about it Mr. Jackson.
Could you be the next Gilding Supply Central?
I cant think of anyone else that would be able to fill those shoes other than you. Have you ever thought about it? And thanks for supplying the list of suppliers!!!

Count me in as another fan of Angel Gilding. I too am very interested in getting the book. In Chicago Angel Gilding was used to create about 120,000 (no kidding) stained glass windows in Historic Chicago Bungalows. Thanks to Rick, these windows can now be repaired properly.

I am interested in the book assuming it contains the recipes and instructions to the angel gilding technique. I am a beginner but really want to make a gold mirror, and from the description, I prefer angel gild over gold leaf gild. Does a gold leaf gild even reflect as a silver leaf mirror would?

I also would be Interested in the Book. How do I get a copy?

I have Robare's excellent book and I've made angel gilding from the formulas - thanks to my chemistry-major husband. It works just the way Rick's gold used to work. I'd like to hear from anyone who is looking for it - I'm trying to get my website up and running so I can advertise properly through the Letterheads website.

Hi Robare,
I would be interested in your book. Let me know the price and where the to send the money. If I ever had a thought of selling any kind of supplies to the sign industry, it passed in a micro-second. It would be a lot of work and a lot of red tape (shipping wise). Ron Percell has opened his version of Esoteric and maybe he can handle the sign supplies if people don't want to buy bulk materials off the list.

I was happy to hear that Peacock was selling the product, but I hope they can get the price down to Rick's old prices. With all their background in similar products, they should be able to supply a reliable products and the follow up tech support for it.

Thanks for the note. Here's the link to the page with all the supplies. I haven't posted it in a while.
