Had a few days struggling to make this white acid panel.
With tempratures changing here and the cold effecting the acid I had a few goes at producing this panel.
I was able to photograph the broken piece and make up the parts that were missing,the lettering was all there and some of the scrolls
the only part missing was the winged areas. its in 4 tones.
The acid finally worked for me yesterday and came out looking like this.

This is a commercial job Wayne. The original over 100 years old was broken by a drunk I have it here with all the blood on from his fist .just had to fit it together like a puzzle. I wil post a pic if you want to see it

Erik. The cloudiness effect is from stippling asphaltum varnish onto the white acid etch which is the first tone ,once dry I expose the whole panel to a second tone of acid which cuts back for four minutes or however long you want between shades (tones) .this gives texture to the panel ,you can do this many times and even do it before you white acid as this will leave a clear stipple with white and various tones merged together.
Also a bromish effect can be achieved with this method by dragging down paint with a stiff brush and then acid etching, it's endless if you have theright design worked out .
