Another "sales" piece

Post by Jerry Berg »

I'm getting quite a few of these out there now. I've allways noticed the nice work that has been done at all the meets that I've not been to and have been drawing on some of them for ideas, hope you all don't mind. This is that piece of glass that had the "bug", got rid of it. I have'nt really figured what to do with the background yet, was thinking of wood. They have some really nice paneling now days. I put it up to a piece and it looked pretty good.

I think you will start to get some nice glasswork when people see these pieces Jerry.
Good luck and keep posting your works of art

Nice gilding! Very nice gilding!

Careful now! You keep that up, ya might end up with some sort of affliction!

Ya, I made sales pieces, they're all hanging in my home, or here in Machine. Guess I like 'em too much to let 'em go! I trust these will work out for you. ...and perhaps we'll be able to gild together sometime. ....sometime.

Keep up the fine work!

Oh, I did up this piece and used slats of redwood, then sandblasted it. Wood can make an interesting background. ...and if you want to change it out at a later date, you can always do that!

-AHO!

Dave, It would'nt stop me from gildin' if I never sold a single piece, but it sure would be nice!

Larry, I think we might be doin' some gilding together here real soon, Lookin forward to it. Thanks for always posting up examples. I think the wood will look great. You know, it hurts havin' to have all this stuff around where I can't see it, but I gotta stick to the plan... for now.

Thanks guys for the encouragement and all the help,

Jerry

Okay...

Couldn't decide on a background for this one. Found it looked pretty good against this old haggered, painted, 'n sandblasted, and weathered piece of plywood...so I went with it. Kinda reminds me of old barn hay.

Ya, we'll have sourdough and ham when we get to Leucadia! :D

Nice! It's a pretty thing that makes me want to play.
I believe there is no shame in failure. Rather, the shame lies in the loss of all the things that might have been, but for the fear of failure.

Jerry, I've found over the years that actual "client work" (extras that are made of real jobs) are the MOST advantageous sales pieces. The art pieces we do are less so although they seem to give the greatest joy in execution. When it comes to a sales tool the extras (which I make for safety) of a local pub or restaurant, which all my clients recognise, give the biggest buck bang.
