Let me give ya a little advice...
never sell your work short.
I know we can get a bit disgruntled in our dealings in the commercial art world,
but perhaps we need to branch out more often into the fine art competitions.
I entered two pieces into the California State Fair and was informed today of two awards.

Dang, Sally, you're far better than your cohort gives you credit for being. I'm just proud to say I know you. Uh, you failed to say what the awards were, exactly. I congratulate you on whatever awards you received. Now I think I'll go watch "Once upon a time in the West."

Dennis, the link at the bottom lists all the winners, but to keep it brief...
Sacramento Street, 14" x 38" watercolor painting for large mural...
Award of Excellence.
Harmonica... Has Something Inside, 26" x 41" watercolor, painted for fun...
Award of Merit
as for my cohort, I don't want to talk about those things.

Congratulations Tony. You've sure got those watercolours figured. It's not an easy medium to work in, and I like the strength and authority with which you use them. You manage to create strong colour while still keeping that transparent and moody look to your work. Well done.
I believe there is no shame in failure. Rather, the shame lies in the loss of all the things that might have been, but for the fear of failure.
