Doors of opportunity

Post by Dan Sawatzky »

We offer a wide variety of services in our shop so we can fulfill the need for 3 dimensional signs. A sign to us is anything that brings attention to our customer's products or services. We believe that our own displays and signs systems should be a shining example of what we do. Between paying projects we are always adding to our samples and displays around the shop.

This week we've finished two unusual signs... both welded steel and both with a rust patina as a final finish. Our own sign system was lacking a completed front door to our studio. With a welding apprentice (my nephew Matthew) anxious for steel working hours and here for two weeks it was the perfect opportunity...

Our second metal project was some gates for a local pottery shop called Solstice Pottery. The name inspired their new sign/gate...

Its all welded steel save for the sun face which was sculpted from Magic Sculpt over a welded steel armature.
