For me as a newby, this would be like visiting a relique.

I'd be surprised if it sells for a lot of money. Big pieces like that have a hard time finding a wall large enough to hold it. Here's your chance to buy it and donate it to the American Sign Museum!

I saw this sign. It was all in order...mother of pearl, signatures, everything.

One thing though, in very small print, there is a short clause, which says that
the purchaser, or his heirs have all rights to remove the signatures with Windex.

I always thought it'd be easy to make a deal with a smart lady.

But, Chief, what are we supposed to do?

Well see here fellows...I get the feeling that you really don't want to be responsible for putting money in the coffers of scoundrels. Are you going to cut off your noses to spite your faces?
In my opinion that piece of glass carries a precious bond between a lot of you fellows.
15 of you that have signatures on there could get together and put $100 each into a common pot and purchase it and take turns taking care of it, or donate it to the Sign Museum. No Windex allowed!

You guys would not like it do you? Glass going out of the country.
Not that I have the money, but I often think about the glass breaking during transport.

I agree with Kelly, it is YOUR past, which you allways talk about and that can not be for sale.
Who will ask the museum to be the bank?

But I went ahead anyway. I emailed the seller with this note:

"Not a lotta call for an item like this.
If you end up wanting to find it a new home,
I'll take it off your hands. I'll even come get it.
...wish I had the money to buy all that stuff...

Course I wouldn't put much stock in a seller that's willing to remove all those signatures with Windex...remove all those signatures!

Guess you could scrape off all that gold leaf too.

The piece only means something to us and we have photos and memories galore. Even the motorcycle shop guys did not care that much for it...they were just Rick's tenants...he made them a sign to go with his. Pay Marilyn for it? Don't think so. It is however, her's to sell if she can. While the windex idea stings a bit, the whole glass could be cleaned off and they could sell a nice piece of clear plate...hmmmm.

I remember signing this glass the same time as Mike J and John S. Would be ashame to see this go.
I would put up $150 if you guy's would be up for it .The money could also go towards the cost of someone driving it to the Museum, fuel and there time.

The signatures were what gave the piece it's value, some of them are not even around anymore, it would have made sense in the Museum, but is now meaningless to anyone who attended the Conclaves, amazing what windex can do...........wonder if it works on people?..........
