Rick Glawsons Glass
Hi guys looking for some help please.....
I am trying to build my own website/blog and have sections of the site dedicated to the original glass work by English and American Companies that inspired us all
to make reverse glass. I have an old picture of Rawson and Evans building with signs outside and inside the windows but it needs more pieces scattered around the brick work and such like. I thought it would be nice to have some of Ricks pieces hanging inside the windows. I have been trying to find the round concaved glass that said Fine Gold Sign Co ,it has a nice gilt frame framing it, also any other pieces that he made would be useful .
Thanks
Dave

Re: Rick Glawsons Glass
This is my first post after just watching all of you talented people, but I had to come out of hiding to say THANKS LARRY.
Those are just beautifull, especially the Pier Pale Ale sign.
I'll get back under me stone now
Regards
Anthony

DON'T!....
For those lucky enough to have attended any of Rick's Conclaves...
Remember how Rick would stop from being tugged in all directions, and
for a moment, give a quick demonstration of a technique. He always
made it seem so simple and effortless, and when he was done, he would
look at you, and without words, he would give you the confidence and
enthusiasm to try it yourself?

"Loving Mentor, Devoted Friend, Cherished Spirit"
Aho, Rick Glawson.... I miss you!

What's the story on the female head drawing?
One of Rick's?
What technique?
A dainty and sensitive sketch, I think.

Don't?
Who said 'don't'?
who says 'don't'?!
why, it's the Dead Man!

and he took that golden hair and made a sweater for baby bear.

Re: Rick Glawsons Glass
Well...it's not a sketch. It's a detail of this sign...
...not a Rick Glawson original artwork, but you can bet he had a hand
in making it look this nice! I made an offer on this piece once...but as
far as I know, his brother still owns it.
The figure and other ornaments are acid etched, with blended gold karats, and "scratch" shaded. Very nice indeed!

Yes very very nice.
Is it an original piece do you think or a copy of an older one?

It's a restoration of an old antique sign...

This is an original piece Anthony. I remember seeing this at Ricks on a few occasions, I would imagine others were made like it.
I think this one is signed. Thanks for all these useful pics Larry

Re: Rick Glawsons Glass
Well, I would call it a sketch, as it is shaded with cross-hatching on glass.....
Whether Rick drew/re-drew it or not, I am amazed at the dimensionality rendered by this technique. Other than the gild, you mean to tell me it is just a flat acid etch, with no other relief and the very artful hatchwork is all that gives it the modeling?
Very, very nice, indeed!
