Nice piece Larry. It looks like that frame got some sand blastin' to raise the grain. Am I right?

Twill, I've always thought that men like us do sandblast
work because we can. Because we're better at it than
most. Well, it beats punching cows or digging copper.
Or soldiering. You can do it on glass, or wood, or metal,
get paid regularly...and you sort of know when to do it
and how. Like on wood frames....


That Lloyd & Magnus commission I'm working on...
Well it's comin' out real nice. I'll be postin' some
pictures of it before too long.

here is a window I gilded in 1994...
this was my second gold leaf window, no instructions, self taught, followed the Gold Leaf Techniques manual.
Water sized the 23k, then outlined in reverse with prussian blue japans

2012, the attorney had a name change,
this time I used the mask method, 1/8" black outlines first,
water gild as the second step

Nice one Larry! I like the way the center boarder piece behind the portrait is offset to the left. Nice touch. Lots of dimension. Is that palladium leaf on the boarder with the circular patterns? Whats the size on this piece.

This was replicated from an old antique toy catalog cover from 1896.
The frame measures 34" x 43".
The border you refer to is 18K water gild over mica etch with clear whirls.

A total restoration. Primed, painted, gilded 23K, antiqued with tinted asphaltum, cleared.

The 27th Conclave is now in the history books.
Here is last year's finished project, designed by that Blake fella.
I guess mine is the only one finished at this time,
nobody else brought theirs.
