Hi!!
I had asked some questions back in January or so about the glass painting project I was working on. It was a massive project and I finally finished last month. Thank you for all the suggestions that were made and I look forward to trying some of those techniques out in the future. I didn't mean to disappear but work took over and I was engulfed! This was an overwhelming project and also I was overwhelmed with all the information I read online and in books. It was tough to make some of the decisions on what to do based on what past sign painters have experienced but I bit the bullet and did what I thought was right at the time.

The materials I used are 1-shot enamel in Black, Silver, and White, 1-Shot Quick Size, Bulletin Spar Clear. I used Aluminum leaf on all borders, spun leaf on the S logo, leaf in the letters, circle borders, and in the Baroque frame. I kind of did a subtle two-tone Aluminum leaf in the words 'Espresso' and 'Cocktails'. Kind of an accident/experiment that I was pleased with the results.

Hi Sam,

I was hired by the coffee shop to do the work and they supplied me with the logo stating that they hired someone to create the logo a while back. My apologies. It was not my intention to 'lift' work.

I would assume the issue would need to be taken with them since they use the logo?

Beautifully done, Jen. I recall your post months ago. It's nice to see the completed window.
And Sam - that is terrific artwork.
The issues of copyright have been discussed several times on this forum. I'm sorry to see that Jen was given artwork which apparently wasn't rightly owned by the establishment. An honest mistake on her part, but a real-life example of how easily these violations can take place especially in our digital age.
I hope things can be worked out to the satisfaction of all parties involved.

Honest mistake on Jen's part indeed. No hard feelings there. Actually she didn't make a mistake. She just used what was handed to her.

It's sad that the designer gets paid for snatching artwork off my website and cropping out my ©Copyright.

Really nice work Jen and all so nice design Sam.Sorry to hear they didn't have your permission. If I were you Sam I'd be starting a dialouge with the company that is using artwork. It may take awhile but it may be worth it.

Yes, definitely a good thing about all this (he says selfishly) is the chance to see your work. I don't know if I would ever have chanced across it on my own. I ordered the "Essential Guide to Drawing Scrolls" DVD and am looking forward to watching it if the summer will settle down a bit.

It shouldn't take more than a lifetime or two to get good at it, should it?
