Under "New Works" John has a video of him doing calligraphy. What a treat. Several of us met John in Kansas City in 1985 - and he was too afraid to get his portfolio out of his car.
Since John had a web site, I dug around looking for one for Carl Rohrs. At least within a Google search, I didn't see one, but I found lots of links indicating he has been very busy doing seminars.
The photo above is linked to the Pacific Scribes site.
Carl is a wonderfully creative talent. He was very active in Letterheads when I first got involved back in 1982.
The sign above was actually painted by Carl Rohrs at a Letterhead meeting somewhere along the way. I managed to snag it from him. He used a Pentel Color Brush to do the original script on a piece of paper. That image was projected and hand lettered on a Turps Marble background.

Raymond, thanks for the update on John. Great to see him in action on video.
I attended Carl Rohrs seminar at the Denver Letterheads meet in '95. Enjoyed every minute of it and gained some very insightful knowledge of calligraphy and script writing. Thanks to Carl he introduced to us to the Pentel Color Brush. I use it quite often to produce script designs for my boat names.
Raymond,
I didn't mean to take your post off in a different direction. It kinda just happened. Both John and Carl are creative and expressive artists.
I have one of John's prints on the wall here. I can't remember for certain, but I think he did a poster for SignCraft at one time and I bought one from them. It is a nice prized possession.
I traded a sign panel with Carl at one of the meetings. It is also a very nice piece, imitating an alphabet he did with a Pentel Color Brush.

Uh-oh. I don't know if Raymond's gonna forgive me like that. But asking for forgiveness is always easier than asking for permission.
Mike, you think those brushes still snap back after all these years? I know I still don't.
L-M Book Store on the east coast was the source for the brushes several years ago. I called them last month and like you said they discontinued them. Thanks for the link. About time to reorder.
As a gift to someone that has a child I like to letter the child's name on watercolor paper. I'll use the Pentel and draw their name over a hundred times filling the paper with all different styles, sizes, and shapes. The recipient would then frame it and hang in their room for a keepsake.
Forgive me, Raymond. You can whup me with your mahl stick next time. (I'll try and get that on video).
