( Sorry, could not get image to post)

I figured if I was going to make one of these... I might as well make two. So the first one I chipped the scroll work and angel gilded it. The lettering is also chipped and angel gilded. I did a brick red blend in the backgound and left the area behind the letters clear (although I shellaced it and painted the asphaltum glaze in the upper portion). This area is then offset against a white "smalt" background. (Actually the product used was called Diamond Dust and i got it over at Michaels Craft Store. It's really sparkley.) It was then framed in a rustic period type frame.

Larry,
I like them both but think I prefer Flavor 1 - the rich warm colors seem more apropos for a cigar, although it's kind of refreshing to see the color choice used in Flavor 2.
Forgive my ignorance but what is Moon Gold? Is that just another name for 22K gold or is it more specific?
Do you do your own framing or have someone elso do it?
Billy Bob - Moon Gold
MG leaf is 91% gold, 5% paladium, @% platinum, and 2% silver. It is (was) available from Sepp Leaf. It looks like lightly tarnished silver with a pinkish hue.

I bought some Rouge Gold from Rick a couple of years ago. Nice copper/gold color. On my "After The Gold Rush" piece (John Studden's meet in February) I did a blend using Rouge, 23K, 18K, 16K & 12K. Maybe I'll post a pic sometime.
I'll have to try out some Moon Gold.

I'm not an expert on the secondary colors of gold. I heard about Moon Gold a long time ago and ended up buying some Rouge Gold from Rick. It was about half again more expensive than regular leaf with a 6 book minimum. Rouge gold, sometimes called Red Gold, has a nice orangish-red hint. I used it on the lower half of the letters in the glass piece above. I think Moon Gold is very similar, but maybe just a slightly different color shift. Sepp Leaf sells it, and I believe Letterhead Sign Supply has it. Esoteric2 is open from what I hear and they probably have some.

Larry,
I like them both. I have one on the wall with reds and maroons, so seeing one in a fresh lime green color scheme is refreshing. The green one is probably more like we would have seen by Rawson and Evans, with the background chipped around the ornamentation. Thanks for posting them!

On this version, I chipped the background areas of the scroll work and the lettering. The scroll work area was then silvered. The lettering was water gilded in 22K Moon Gold. I painted a brush blended green backgound and border. The glass has a scolloped edge and is stood off of a black, flocked backing board which has been framed.

I think I like the gold (flavor 1) a bit better. What do you think?
