Rick had mentioned to outline the inscriptions in asphaltum varnish, then back paint the entire inscription with asphaltum, then solution silver the entire piece. The asphaltum keeps the inscriptions from lifting or other damage. The trick is to get your glass really clean without damaging the existing work.
