I had mentioned finding an original 1927 Halsted Modern Ornament and Design a couple of weeks ago. It finally arrived today!...complete with Halsted's signature on the inside front board. I was trying to calculate the other day, but I'd have to say I have been watching for this book for well over 20 years! ST reprinted the book in the '80s, and I have had one or two of those all these years, but it is really nice to get a first edition.

I thought that you would have gotten one several years ago...I got one about 8 years ago. A few years back I noticed another one on bookfinder.com. If I had known you were looking for one...I would have directed you to it.

This time I included the corrected email address.

I kept hoping I would run across one at an antique book store, but never did. Since it wasn't really a "sign painting" book, I suspect it was often put into arts and graphics sections, but I never saw it there either. Signs of the Times was the publisher in 1927 and it appeared in the display ads for several years as an available book. With that, I would have thought the book would be much easier to find.

My Heiberling book is pretty tattered. I'd like to replace it someday if you run across one.

Take care,
Mike Jackson
