Steven Parrish's roll up pouch of gold trimmers

Post by Mike Jackson »

Image

Danny Baronian was asking me about gold trimmers yesterday. I kept a few items from Steven Parrish's sign kits (the rest went to the museum) and this is one of them. Steven might have had a larger full sized razor blade trimmer, but I believe he used these smaller Griffhold blade holders more. He had a pair of cheap pliers in his kit to break the single edged blades to the size he needed.

I surfed around on the Internet some last night looking for a source for the Griffhold blade holders, but I didn't find one. If you have a source, please let us know.

Doesn't Esoteric still sell them?
I could've sworn they said they still have them.

Rick started Esoteric on the back of his gold trimmer and the abalone he was making. I heard they sold off the last of the full sized trimmers, and he stopped making abalone sheets a long time ago. They might still have some of the smaller Griffhold handles, but I don't know.

http://grifhold.com/shop/index.php

I was misspelling "grifhold" (had an extra f). The link above is their home page. I didn't see the exact trimmer shown in Steven's pouch, but I left an email with them. Hopefully they will respond with the correct number. Nice to see they are still in business. They make pounce wheels, swivel knives, blades, and three part mahl sticks.

Mke,

How nice to see that roll-up pouch of Steven P. I wish I'd taken the opportunity to know him better and look over all those sign materials he left behind. He had a generious, well organized, set of boxes and pouches for all his unique tools that he packed in his old green station wagon. Every thing he needed for a Bank Job.

As I remember, he had boxes and boxes of single edged razor blades he used on everything, including cleaning the windows of his car. Also he was the only sign artist, I've known, that used a can of lighter fluid, the kind which had a plastic push over top, to clean his brushes.

I complement you for spending the time wiith him and giving us the opportunity of know about this very special bank artists.
