OEM Downloads of Photoshop CS3

Post by Mike Jackson »

Hi all,
My email box is filling daily with all kinds of offers of saving as much as a thousand dollars with downloadable OEM versions of the new high ticket software. I suspect your mail box is filling up, too.

I don't plan on going that way, but it does make me curious if there is any form of this that is legitimate? To me, it looks a lot like a scam, designed to get people (low budget buyers) to supply their credit card numbers to a bunch of crooks. It make me wonder if the software would even work, then wonder who you would turn to if the people don't supply the goods. I guess you could reverse the charges with VISA, but if they are crooks, the damage would aready have been done. You couldn't turn to Adobe or Microsoft for help.

It looks very risky to me!

I received a BBB alert on this and others which they say is a Phishing scam.

Yep, this has all the earmarks of a scam. Show a photo of the box, tell you where to download the files (that might or might not work), and get you to supply them with your credit card information prior to finding out the link to the download file does not work. All they really want is your card info.

Once you get ripped, it is hard to think anyone would care since the buyer is ripping Adobe.
